CRADLE at the 2nd International Stardust Conference

Mirko Trisolini presented his latest work on the project CRADLE at the 2nd International Stardust Conference. The work shows how the particles ejected after an impact move around the asteroids and how their behaviour can be modelled as a fluid. We can exploit this type of modelling to guide the spacecraft through areas with higher particle concentrations. In this way, we can collect the samples resulting from the impact. In this work, we also show a preliminary design of a collection trajectory and we estimate the number of fragments we can collect.
